She had a tough start to life being rescued from the meat trade indusrty but that is all behind her now. She takes a little time to warm up to new people because she is a little shy but her gentle nature will capture your heart if you give her a chance.

I am a sweet Shiba Inu that's about 9 years old and only 20 pounds. Don't let my age fool you - I am a spry girl with lots of energy and spunk! I am new to a foster home but so far I am loving it. I love to explore every nook and cranny in the house and get the occasional pet by my people. I recently discovered they give back scratches and Oh. My. GOODNESS are those to die for! I do the best happy dance when I get back scratches! I am also learning about pottying outside and I'm doing really well on a schedule. I am a confident girl that isn't afraid to tell other dogs to keep out of my space. Because of this, I'd do best in a forever home without another dog or with a human that can help remind me to use my manners and act like a lady. I really love to explore outside and I'd love a fenced in yard to explore, but it's not needed. I LOVE to go on walks and see the sights, smell the smells, and hear all the sounds. I am a curious girl. I recently met a Chinchilla and I really wanted to play with him. Foster mom wasn't sure if it was mean play or nice play, but she thinks to be on the safe side my furever home shouldn't have any cats. I think I just don't realize that I'm 20 pounds and they aren't! I'd sure love a furever home with at least one person that will want to go on adventures with me - be it around the yard, a walk, or the Grand Canyon! Can my next adventure be with you? ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Foxy Mama Te...

    Breed: Shiba Inu

    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (short coat). Meet Foxy Mama! This adorable little shiba inu mix has certainly been through a rough patch. At some point in her young life, she was hit by a car and sustained a pelvis injury which was not treated and thus healed in a crooked position. This has left one of her hind legs partially useless. Following her injury, she became pregnant and then was unceremoniously dumped in a overwhelmed shelter in South Texas where she gave birth to two little puppies. This is where we first found her. Our volunteers sprung into action and transported her several hundred miles to her foster. Sadly though, Foxy Mama's trials were not over. Not long after arriving in foster, her and her puppies all broke with distemper, which they were exposed to in the crowded shelter. Despite our best efforts, Foxy Mama's two puppies passed away. Fortunately she pulled through and only shows a very very minor facial neurlogical "tic" at times which is getting noticeably better as time goes on. In spite of all the sadness she has seen, Foxy Mama is a happy and playful girl. She enjoys running around with all her foster family and her bum leg only slows her down a little bit. We estimate she is only about 2 years young. Prior to being adopted, NorthStar Pet Rescue will bring her to a veterinarian orthopedic specialist and we will have her leg treated or removed if need be, since she does not appear to use it very much and to our eyes it looks like more of a hindrance than help. Foxy Mama's story is just beginning. Though is started with tragedy, you can be the author of the rest of her life by submitting an application! She deserves a loving home that she never had! If you would like to meet this sweet gal, please fill out an application at https://northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for FOXY MAMA TEXAS!

Posted Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Snapshot of Foxy! Size? Fun size (10-20 lbs) Activity Level? Looking for a Netflix buddy! Noise Level? I rarely bark! Good with Dogs? I'd prefer to be an only dog! Good with Cats? Untested, but may chase! Dog-savvy cats may be okay. Good with Kids? Older kids only, if you please! Good with Strangers? I can be shy. Slow intros needed. Potty Trained? I'm a pro! Crate Trained? I do well without one, but I'll hang out in a crate if needed. Interested? Learn more about Foxy below! Approximate age: 13-16 years About Foxy (from her foster): F oxy is a serene lady who's seen a lot of this world and knows her place in it. She's an interesting combination of very patient and still letting you know her wishes. I'm learning that when she brings me a toy, it's not for *me* to play with, she just wants me to admire her poise. She's even considerate and patient with the dachshund downstairs, but when he gets just a bit too frisky to bear, she'll hiss at him. I dare you to not laugh when you see that! Among her favorite things are waiting for you to sit on the couch so she can nestle in next to you. If I'm being unbearably involved with my keyboard she'll finally just nestle in against my heel. And she's got the all-time cutest little snore... Foxy is looking for a quiet home with no young children or other dogs. Foxy has a dental surgery scheduled for April 10th. She will be available to go to her new home 1 week after her surgery, but you can meet her now! If you think you could be the match for her, apply today! Adoption Fee: $375 MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you’d like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/adopt-a-dog/ . A volunteer from Twin Cities Pet Rescue will contact you once your application is reviewed. FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!! Twin Cities Pet Rescue is a volunteer-run, foster home-based organization. DOB: 12/4/16 Requires another dog in home: YES Okay with dogs of all sizes: YES Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: NO Requires a fenced yard: YES Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Shy/fearful dog experience required **SPECIAL HOME REQUIRED** Redford is a case that is near and dear to our hearts. Redford and his two siblings were rescued and transported to MN, however shortly after arriving in foster care Redford escaped his foster home and spent 4 weeks fending for himself in the wild. We never gave up hope for him and eventually he was recovered. He has been in our care for over 9 months now, trying to teach him how to trust people, and how to “be a dog”. Redford has come a long way, but still has a very long way to go. For this reason he requires a special kind of home. The perfect home for him would be someone who has experience rehabilitating shy/scared dogs. He requires another dog in the home, as well as a 6 foot physical fenced in yard. (Apartments/Condos/Townhomes and homes outside of the 60 mile radius will not be considered at this time) Redford is an extreme flight risk and will need someone dedicated to giving him time, patience, love, and acceptance. Redford would do best in an adults only home. Redford is not currently potty trained, but will use a potty pad approximately 70% of the time. Redford is available for a meeting by approved application only. Due to the special nature around his behavior and circumstances, Redford will not be attending regular adoption events. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend.
